Well, hello! I’m Jackie, owner and designer behind the boutique invitation design studio Sincerely, Jackie. Growing up, I always assumed I would be a professional artist in some capacity. My first year of college was spent in Boston studying interior design, but oddly enough, school felt limiting and discouraging. I feared turning something I loved so much – creating – into my profession would somehow siphon the joy out of me. So I ditched design school to find a professional career that felt, well, more professional.
Since I always had a place in my heart for helping people, it seemed natural that I went on to get my undergraduate and graduate degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology (the psychology of people in organizations). I landed my dream job where I became a certified leadership coach and skilled in the use of personality assessments. For over five years I worked with executives and leaders to hone their interpersonal management skills. I was good at what I did, I loved what I did, and I found joy in what I did. But something was missing. Truth be told, I’m creative at heart, and I missed having design in my life. Then, in 2008, I got engaged, and designed my own engagement party invitations.
Without even realizing what was happening, my love affair with stationery began. What was first a creative outlet became a deep sense of respect, and over the course of 7 years, I learned as much as I humanly could about printing, typography, etiquette, paper, and wedding invitation design. Over the years I grew my side invitation business into a brand that was known for quality, simplicity, beauty, and a wonderfully personal invitation experience. In 2014, after years of hard work and planning, I was able to leave my I/O career to work for Sincerely, Jackie fill-time.
While design may be my full-time business, I continue to be a dedicated coach, helping other creative entrepreneurs grow their passion into a fulfilling business. I’m thrilled to share a bit myself with all of you!
